Erasmus program extending to include foreign staff members and degree program students
From the beginning of the academic year 2010 - 11 forward the Erasmus program extends to cover all students of higher education institutions regardless of nationality. It means that also foreign degree students can participate in the Erasmus programme and acquire an Erasmus grant from the EU funds. Previously the Erasmus student and trainee exchange in Finland has been available only to Finnish citizens, citizens of other countries participating in the Erasmus programme and individuals, who have a permanent residence permit in Finland.
In addition to students, the extension covers also members of staff at higher education institutions, who can participate in Erasmus teacher and staff mobility regardless of nationality. Also the EILC - Erasmus Intensive Language Courses will become available to all students and staff at higher education institutions regardless of nationality.
