Towards New Challenges
I would like to welcome all new students and graduate students to JAMK University of Applied Sciences at the start of the 2011-2012 academic year.
The Master’s degrees offered by JAMK provide an excellent route for deepening your expertise and for developing innovations required in working life. The multidisciplinary nature of JAMK and close cooperation between degree programmes guarantee high-quality training and allow you to prepare study paths in accordance with your needs and to include courses from more than one degree programme. The Personal Study and Career Plan you prepare at the start of your studies takes into account your existing skills, sets out the development targets for your skills in relation to the targets of the degree programme and lays out the timetable for your studies.
When providing training, we take into account the differing work and life situations of adult students. Modern and barrier-free learning environments and a variety of teaching-technology solutions provide you with a broad range of study options. Skilled teaching staff and extensive support services, such as counselling, student, study psychology and international services, guarantee you a smooth study path.
Our extensive and high-quality R&D&I activities create excellent opportunities for integrating the latest knowledge and information into our course contents. The extensive workplace-oriented development tasks carried out as part of training leading to a Master’s degree provide a concrete manifestation of the integration of training and R&D&I activities. As the students progress with their studies, they are able to develop their expertise in an authentic learning process, in which the close cooperation between JAMK and the students’ workplaces makes it easier for them to study while working.
Entrepreneurship learning is important, both for us and Finnish society as a whole. We encourage our students to become entrepreneurs by offering entrepreneurship studies and by providing support in the creation of business concepts and innovations through Generator activities. The Generator approach may also provide you with a new way of writing your thesis.
JAMK has a comprehensive network of international partners and we hope that our Master’s degree students also utilise it. Carrying out studies in English in more than one degree programme helps to provide a broader international dimension, while at the same time foreign visitors and lecturers of different fields provide our teaching with international special expertise. Master’s theses can also be linked with international RD programmes.
A university of applied sciences Master’s degree provides you with new career opportunities, a chance to enter more demanding tasks and a chance to apply for tasks or post-graduate education in which a university of applied sciences Master’s degree is an entry requirement.
