Content of Studies

The Degree Programme in Health Promotion will provide you with new competence for development and expert tasks in health promotion, organisations and companies, or as a private entrepreneur.

In the degree programme, you will develop competence and tools in

  • evidence-based health promotion
  • planning and managing health promotion
  • sexual health promotion
  • starting change processes in working life, and
  • entrepreneurship and internationality

The programme consists of advanced professional and elective management studies, where you can specialize, based on the personal study plan in internationality, in planning and developing health promotion and in sexual health promotion. The master’s thesis (30 ECTS cr) is implemented as a working life development assignment and it constitutes a significant part of the programme.

The students get personal “added value” from networking and the exchange of expertise with the colleagues participating in the programme, as well as from their interest groups.

Flexible Studies while Working

The programme is multi-professional and implemented through multi-modal teaching and online studies. It can be completed in 2.5-3 years while working. During the first 1.5 years, there is an average of two weekdays of contact teaching a month.

The personal study plan provides you with the opportunity to select optional studies. The assignments and the thesis can be oriented to your own and/or your work community’s developmental needs. You also have the right to transfer credits obtained while pursuing prior studies in the field.

A Master’s degree provides eligibility for applying to

  • a public office or position requiring a second-cycle degree
  • vocational teacher education

The studies are free of charge.

Who Can Apply?

The programme is intended for working professionals who have a higher education degree and at least three years of relevant work experience.

The education required:

  • other applicable higher education degree, for example Master of Science (Health Care), Bachelor of Science (Health Care) or Bachelor of Social Sciences (Social Services or Early Childhood Education).
