Publishing and Archiving

After the bachelor's thesis has been approved and grade confirmed, the student has to submit a hard copy of the thesis to JAMK‘s library.

In general, the bachelor’s thesis is a public document, and it is available as a hard copy in the library or in an electronic format in the Theseus Database. Instructions on how to enter a thesis into Theseus are issued by the unit (school) concerned at Optima (password required). The thesis is converted into a PDF File and saved in Theseus, which is an electronic library of the Finnish universities of applied sciences (See http://www.theseus.fi/en/pdfohje.html). If the thesis is classified as partly confidential or fully confidential for a fixed period, the student submits a full version of the thesis on a CD to JAMK’s library. The library publishes the thesis online when the confidentiality period has elapsed.

If the student/commissioner does not give a permission to publish the thesis online or if the JAMK Unit does not publish the bachelor’s theses online, the thesis is published as a hard copy. The instructions of the units (schools) on submitting a hard copy of the thesis to JAMK‘s library can be found at Optima. The student also enters the abstract(s) of the thesis into JAMK’s abstract database. If the thesis is partly confidential, the student submits two versions of the thesis to the library: 1) full thesis and 2) version containing the part of the thesis that is public. The public part is available in the library at once, the full thesis after the confidentiality period. If the thesis is classified as confidential for a fixed period, the student submits one hard copy to the library. This copy is available after the confidentiality period.

Each unit (school) is responsible for making sure that the theses are archived in a proper way. The archive copy is an additional copy to the copy submitted to the library.

Reporting Instructions

The thesis report is written in accordance with JAMK's reporting instructions. A unit (school)/degree programme may have additional instructions concerning the bachelor’s thesis. These instructions provide additional guidelines regarding e.g. choice of the topic, theses as assignments from companies/organisations, appearance, copying and archiving. Thesis instructions can be found in the Study Forum Workspace at Optima (user id required).
