Agreements and Publicity

Ideally, the bachelor’s thesis is implemented as an assignment from a company or organisation. The assignment is documented in a Thesis Agreement. Possible confidentiality issues concerning the bachelor’s thesis process are documented in a Confidentiality Agreement.

JAMK University of Applied Sciences complies with the recommendation of the Ministry of Education (Letter to the universities of applied sciences dated 28 January 2004, Reg. No. 3/500/2004), according to which bachelor’s theses should not include confidential material and they should become public as soon as they have been approved.

The procedure concerning bachelor’s theses that are assignments from companies or organisations can, however, be as follows:

  • a) The appendices are classified as confidential, while the actual thesis remains public.
  • b) If necessary, the whole bachelor’s thesis is classified as confidential for a fixed period if publication causes economic loss to the company/organisation concerned, or if publication has adverse effects on the person carrying out the thesis project or on the person commissioning the project (Act on the Openness of Government Activities 621/1999 Section 24).
