Completing a Degree

The Bachelor’s Degree is awarded to students who have completed the studies (courses, practical training, bachelor’s thesis, and maturity test) of their degree programme in compliance with their personal study plan during the maximum study period, and who have demonstrated proficiency in the required language skills.

Applying for a Degree Certificate

On completing the Bachelor’s Degree, students are awarded a certificate in Finnish, indicating

• the name of the degree and degree programme,
• a potential specialisation option,
• the title which can be used based on the degree,
• the central content of studies,
• the name of bachelor’s thesis,
• the language of the maturity test or other assignment demonstrating familiarity with the field,
• reference to the language skills required of state officials in Finland, and
• other relevant issues.

The degree certificate must be applied for in writing (with a degree certificate application) early enough before the maximum study period expires.

Students who graduate from degree programmes with instruction in English are given a translation of the certificate.

Students graduating from degree programmes with instruction in Finnish, wishing to have a translation of their degree certificate, can contact the Language Centre for a translation against payment.

Also before graduation, students can contact the Student Services in order to get a certificate on the studies they have completed so far.

Diploma Supplement

Diploma Supplement is being issued in a widely spoken European language (English), given automatically and free of charge to every student upon graduation.The Diploma Supplement is intended for international use and includes information on JAMK, the studies and credits (Transcript of Records), as well as on their level and status in the Finnish educational system.
