Interested in IT? Come and study to be a business expert in the IT sector!
With us you will have the opportunity to develop your IT skills to form the basis of your own business or to extend your skills into the direction of business applications, so that you will be able to work in the IT field in, for example, direct contact with the clients. Businesses need professionals with technological competence who, at the same time, understand the complexity of business operations.
In the Degree Programme in Business Information Systems, you will learn the logic of IT solutions from the point of view of business professionals. You will also learn the planning and implementation of www-based solutions. Come and study with us if you want to know how such applications as the FaceBook, IRC-Gallery and YouTube work! So, we will lead you to the world of digital marketing which already now is significant and will be even more significant in the future. In your studies you can focus either on e-business, data administration solutions or www-applications. At the School of Business Administration, you can also choose subjects from other degree programmes according to your personal interests.
Project Studies and Networking
The studies include lectures, learning tasks, exams, group assignments and online and project studies. During the spring of your second academic year you will participate in an IT system project and other business projects and ventures commissioned by our business life partners. This is how you will start creating your own networks and important business contacts.
The studies also include a practical training period that can be taken in one or two parts. Your final thesis is a work commissioned by a business enterprise. These commissions offer excellent possibilities of networking and creating personal job opportunities. Interest in computing and its different applications and in business operations in general is a prerequisite for studying in the Degree Programme in Business Information Systems.
You can also participate in our international exchange programme, either by doing practical or theoretical studies in one of our partner institutions of which there are more than 50. The most popular countries of student exchange were Hong Kong, Singapore and Germany in 2007.
Employment Prospects
After your graduation you can find employment in a great variety of expert duties. Your professional titles can be, for example, application developer, systems expert, new media designer, programme designer, project manager, educator, consultant or IT systems supporter. You can also work in the sales of IT systems or run your own firm. The graduates of the programme have been quite successful in finding employment. About 75 per cent of the graduates had a job at the time of their graduation in 2007.
Admission Criteria and Application
You can apply for admission if you have completed general upper secondary education, the matriculation examination or if you have a vocational qualification. If you will graduate during the spring in which you are submitting your application, please refer to your latest school certificate in your application.

Eligibility for Further Studies
After your graduation as a Bachelor of Business Administration you can continue your studies at a university of applied sciences. With three years of work experience you can apply for admission to a Master’s programme of the field. You can undertake professional specialization studies or continuing education that can be taken in addition to your regular work. If you are planning the career of a teacher, you can apply to the Teacher Education College.
Those with a Master’s degree in Business Administration taken at a university of applied sciences are eligible for university level post-graduate studies. The university in question will decide separately in each case on the admission criteria to research studies.
