Asia Studies

The Finnish National Network for East and Southeast Asia and universities of applied sciences provide studies related to East and Southeast Asia for the students of Finnish universities and other higher education institutions.

The Virtual Asia Programme Provided by Universities

The university network organises a programme on Asia, providing students with a solid basic knowledge of East and Southeast Asia. The programme is implemented through multidisciplinary study of the region from the perspectives of cultural history, social sciences, business economics, and communication studies. The programme is offered to students of universities and universities of applied sciences.

  • Cultural History of East and Southeast Asia, in Finnish, options: 6 or 2 ECTS credits
  • Society and Politics in East and Southeast Asia, in English, options: 6 or 2 ECTS credits
  • Business in East and Southeast Asia, in English,options: 7, 5 or 2 ECTS credits
  • Language and Communication in East and Southeast Asia, in English, 6 ECTS credits
  • India in the World Politics, in English, 6 ECTS credits

Virtual Courses on Asia at the Universities of Applied Sciences

The universities of applied sciences have collaboratively implemented three courses on Asia, constituting a total of 15 ECTS credits:

  • Orientation to East and South East Asia, in English, 5 ECTS credits
  • Health Care and Social Services in China, Japan and Thailand, in English, 5 ECTS credits
  • Asian Tourism and Service Culture, in English, 5 ECTS credits
