Vocational Study Counsellor Education (in Finnish)

The Vocational Study Counsellor programme is further education intended for teachers of vocational institutes. The objectives and implementation are based on the rapidly changing needs of working life and of the operating environment.

Applicants should have vocational teacher qualification. The education provides a comprehensive qualification for study counselling in the various forms of education, depending on prior education.

The Study Counsellor programme comprises 60 ECTS credits and is organised as multi-mode education during three semesters. Approximately 50 students start the education at our Teacher Education College every year.

The next application period ison January 2013. The national online application for teacher education programmes will be available in Finnish at www.opekorkeahaku.fi during the application period.

Implementation of the studies

• Studying on a part-time basis, the programme will last for 1.5 years and consist of three contact sessions per semester (2-3 days/session), online courses, small group- and independent studies.
• Studies can be completed either in the study group in Jyväskylä or in Southern Lapland.
• The studies will begin in May 2012 with an orientation contact session in Jyväskylä. After the orientation, half of the Southern Lapland study group's contact sessions will be held in the area of Southern Lapland and the other half in Jyväskylä.
