Programme Description
The Degree Programme in International Business prepares you with the skills and knowledge to be successful in global business. Learning is based on applying theoretical knowledge in a multicultural, innovative learning environment through case studies and projects in co-operation with industry and our international network. The skills and competences you gain will give you a great opportunity to work for modern, innovative, global companies. At the moment our graduates work in various fields of business both in Finland and abroad developing business in various fields.
Content of Business Studies
The first two years of studies consist of project management, teamwork, communication, analytical tools, core business skills, and languages. Our focus is to give a global perspective to the operations of a modern company, including internationalisation, marketing, strategic management, financial and legal issues. Our students will learn to recognise new business opportunities and to develop such business in order to increase its profitability potential.
Our structure also offers you an excellent chance to develop your language skills and multicultural skills. We provide individual tutoring in English. You are excepted to study other languages as well: Finnish, German, Russian, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese etc.
The third year of studies is reserved for implementing your Personal Development Plan. Our High-Tech Management specialisation, based on real-life projects, provides you with valuable knowledge needed in the management of high-tech companies. The Russian Trade specialisation option is offered in cooperation with the State University of Management in Moscow. Global Operations Management specialisation improves your readiness to operate at the corporate level. You can also choose the EntrepreneurialPath during which you can develop your business plans assisted by our incubator services.
In line with your Personal Development Plan you will also complete your bachelor’s thesis, company projects and practical training to support the start of your career in business.
All our students can study at least one semester abroad gaining international experience and utilising excellent course offerings of our partner institutions around the world. You can also complete your practical training abroad. Our double degree programmes with French, German and Russian partners offer you an opportunity to gain two diplomas.

Implementation of Global Business Studies
The Degree Programme in International Business is a progressive, international, holistic programme which takes a hands-on approach to training professionals for the global marketplace. We provide a high quality learning environment, in order to compete with and surpass the standards and principles of competing institutions, through the use of advanced teaching techniques, cutting-edge technology, a global focus, and a determination to succeed. Our students deepen their knowledge during a mandatory exchange period abroad. As a result, our graduates are able to assist growth-oriented, innovative companies to succeed n the international market.
Employment Opportunities
Our graduates work in various industries both in Finland and abroad, developing business in the areas of marketing, management and sales. Some of the graduates have also started their own businesses. More than 75% of our graduates have a job after graduation and the rest of them continue their studies at the master’s level in Finland or abroad.

Further Studies at JAMK
If you have at least three years of relevant work experience after your Bachelor’s degree, you are eligible for our master’s level education. You can continue your studies at JAMK at the master’s level, focusing on New Business Development or High Tech Entrepreneurship. The Finnish bachelor’s level degree also provides you with the opportunity to continue your studies at universities around the world.
