Facility Management is the ideal programme for you if you want to manage operations in hotels, tourist resorts, conference centres, office blocks, business organisations or public offices. You will be able to manage the premises, take care of the maintenance, develop business plans and service concepts, organise hospitality services, design user-friendly workplaces, provide catering services and security. Simply to ensure that everything is operating properly.
Together with customer oriented theoretical knowledge and skills our training is based on real life business projects. In our multicultural learning environment you will be able to develop your intercultural business skills. We offer you excellent opportunities for creating a career in international companies. You will also be familiar with the demands of the business in your branch and have the competences to apply the latest technology.
Content of Studies
First and second year of studies are reserved for creating a solid basis of basic business and managerial skills including the special features of facility management. All the students complete communication and management modules. You will also learn to manage processes and innovations in facility services and develop the service systems of the field. The programme familiarises you with the planning, management and development of facility services of different companies / business areas.
On the third year of studies you will implement your Personal Development Plan, which you tailor to your needs. This will be a combination of studies at JAMK, company projects, minor research projects and exchange studies abroad. Based on the Personal Development Plan you can build yourself an individually tailored degree.
The fourth year is your graduation year during which you will complete your practical training, bachelor’s thesis and elective studies.

Implementation of Studies
You will study in a multicultural group of students coming from different countries. Studies consist of lectures, assignments, exams, team work, development projects and online learning. You will complete part of your studies at one of our partner institutions abroad, in Europe, Asia, North America or Australia. You will create networks and important contacts with companies of the field through participation in the working life projects of the educational unit. You participate, for example, in the implementation of customer satisfaction surveys and development of facility service products and systems in companies.
The practical training, which is an essential element of the degree to start your career, can be completed either in your home country or abroad. It is a great opportunity to see how companies of the field operate and to perform expert and managerial tasks in companies. The bachelor’s thesis is based on an assignment by a company of your interest.
Employment Prospects
The programme qualifies graduates for positions involving design, development and management of facility services. Bachelors of Hospitality Management work, for instance, in hotels, congress centres, tourism enterprises, and enterprise parks. They are in charge of the user and facility services produced in the facility, as well as developing new customer-oriented service products.
Your professional title may be service manager, customer service manager, event coordinator, service adviser, quality manager, project manager, sales negotiator, property manager or entrepreneur, just to mention a few.

Further Studies at JAMK
After graduation as Bachelor of Hospitality Management, you can continue your studies at JAMK. After three years of work experience in the field, you will be eligible for the Master’s degree programmes offered by Finnish universities of applied sciences. You can also develop additional competences through participation in professional specialisation studies or other continuing education programmes, which can be completed while working. If you consider a career in teaching, you can apply for admission to the Teacher Education College.
The graduates of the Master’s degree programmes offered by universities of applied sciences are eligible for admission to post-graduate studies at universities. The university sets the admission criteria individually for each case.
