Academic Board

The primary task of the Academic Board is to develop the activities of JAMK University of Applied Sciences (JAMK).

The Board

• submits a proposal on JAMK’s operating and financial plan and budget to the JAMK University of Applied Sciences Ltd. Board of Directors
• decides on the grounds on which the funding granted to JAMK is allocated
• submits proposals for alterations to JAMK’s educational tasks to the JAMK University of Applied Sciences Ltd. Board of Directors
• appoints the other administrative bodies consisting of several members
• appoints the Teacher Education Council
• approves the JAMK Degree Regulations
• approves the JAMK rules and regulations concerning internal administration
• decides on the student selection criteria of the programmes leading to a degree, on the vocational teacher education, vocational special needs teaching, and study counselling programmes, and on the arrangement of entrance examinations
• deals with and, on the basis of the Degree Regulations, decides on the claims for rectification concerning student selection
• decides on the core curricula of the programmes leading to a degree, of the vocational teacher education, vocational special needs teaching, and study counselling programmes, and of the specialisation studies
• decides on the implementation of the courses and working hours each academic year
• decides on the suspension of students for a fixed term, and
• deals with and decides on other matters that are prescribed by law, assigned to it, or are otherwise of the nature that the Board's duty is to deal with them

In the Board meetings, the Director of Strategic Development acts as the presenting official. In issues concerning the operating and financial plan, the presenting officer is the Director of Administration. The Chairperson may also appoint another person to act as the presenting official.
