Getting to Jyväskylä
Jyväskylä is best reached by plane, train or coach. Most of the international flights arrive to the capital's airport, Helsinki-Vantaa. The connections are relatively frequent and the journey to Jyväskylä from Helsinki takes about 4 hours by bus or train. Flight from Helsinki-Vantaa airport to Jyväskylä airport takes one hour. On arriving, it’s necessary to have some Euros for buses, taxis, etc.
By Air
The airport in Jyväskylä is about 20 kilometers from the city centre and it can be best reached by taxi (costs approximately 20-30 €). E.g. the national flight company Finnair Ltd offers flights to Jyväskylä from Helsinki.
By Bus
In Finland the long distance bus services are arranged by a company named Matkahuolto Ltd and the bus connections can be found from every city or village throughout.
If you travel to Helsinki by air, there are many long-distance bus connections from Helsinki to Jyväskylä usually once every hour between 7 am and 9 pm (in the night time there are fewer busses and trains running). The travelling time between Helsinki-Vantaa airport and the Jyväskylä bus station is about 4-5 hours. The bus leaves directly from the airport so it’s an easy way to come to Jyväskylä.

By Train
You can also leave the airport of Helsinki-Vantaa by train to come to Jyväskylä. There is no direct train connection from the airport to the city of Jyväskylä so you must take a bus to the city centre of Helsinki first. Finnair has buses that go from the airport to Helsinki city centre (costs about 5,20 €).
